Delta Air Lines, Inc. DFP - Liaison Engineer III in Atlanta, Georgia

This is a position for employment at a Delta Air Lines wholly-owned subsidiary, Delta Flight Products; not Delta Air Lines.

The Liaison Engineer III functions as the central point of contact between DFP Engineering and Operations in ensuring that documentation supplied by the engineering group accurately conveys needed information to manufacturing, quality and supply chain functions.

Evaluates and interprets DFP policy requirements to ensure compliance in all engineering documentation.

Provides technical documentation in an accurate, compliant and timely manner in order to prevent issues which may affect project completion.

Technical documents include redlines, detailed instructions for accomplishment, detailed engineering drawings and detailed analysis. In addition, documentation will include the appropriate FAA coordination and approval.

Works closely with managers, supervisors, technicians and fellow engineers.

In conjunction with other team members, investigates and implements process improvements

Must be willing to participate in work that requires on-call travel to remote locations for support of aircraft modification activities. Must also be willing to extend shifts, regularly, to support production needs and active aircraft modifications.

Four year accredited undergraduate engineering degree (Aeronautical/Aerospace, Mechanical) required. Will consider related experience in place of a degree.

Must have minimum 8 years relevant engineering experience

Must possess comprehensive working knowledge of engineering principles, repair and fabrication practices, aviation hardware and general aircraft maintenance operations; as well as knowledge of aircraft type specific information involving structure, service problems, repairs, etc.

Must have extensive knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, SRM's, MM's, SB's, IPC's, WD's, etc.

Preferred to possess familiarity with FARs and DOT regulations governing transport aircraft certification and operation.

Preferred to have knowledge and experience with major airline operations.

Possess the ability to communicate to a diverse audience in various formal and informal environments.

Proven ability in analyzing incomplete information and implementing timely decision-making while mitigating risk factors.

Must possess clear written and oral technical communication skills.

Must be a strong supporter of Six Sigma and continuous improvement efforts.

Working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel), AutoCAD and SolidWorks (or similar CAD software).

Ability to work various shifts, rotating days off and non-standard work weeks, including weekends and holidays.

Strongly Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 8-10 yrs aviation related experience; or

Master's Degree in Engineering with 6-9 yrs aviation related experience
